When you go shopping to a furniture shop, you will notice that most of the chair and desk there are made of pine. It is not surprising since pine is quite cheap. However, it has its downside also. Pine has low oil in it. That makes it more vulnerable to insect, whether and rotting. It usually will start to crack in a relatively short of time.
Plastic is the best next option for manufacturers to replace pine. Although it last longer than pine, but it will eventually crack or even broken. And from the aesthetically speaking, they don’t look that good. You want have that grandeur effect with plastic. I mean, they are after all, fake. Now, that’s when teak comes.
Teak is the best material there is for furniture. It naturally contains high concentrate of oil, making it endure to whether changes, insect and rotting. It also doesn’t crack easily. In fact, it is a very strong wood. It also last very long, hundreds of years I guess. It is water resistant that’s why people are using it as materials to build boats and ships. The maintenance is also not very difficult. With a clean towel, you can wipe it and it will give you that long lasting shine.
